nineteen81 Tapah Rest House

Think Tapah and we'll think of it as the exit to Cameron Highlands. That aside actually Tapah is quite a gem on its own. There is of course the orang asli setllement and the beautiful 850 metre high waterfall Lata Kijang  which was used for the filming of Malaysia's box office hit Puteri Gunung Ledang. Enroute to Perlis, we stopped at the Nineteen81 Tapah Rest House.

as the name suggest, this place was opened since 1981
The 1981 Tapah Rest House is a no frills stay that you could explore when you head in to Tapah. The rates are really very affordable between RM88 (USD29) to RM108 (USD36). And it is quite scenic as well.
I wouldn't say that this place is run down as it is in the midst of being refurbished. As we had limited time, we did not explore the rooms but these are the pictures that I found on their website.
single bed in the family room (6 family rooms)
 queen bed in family room
 6 superior rooms
3 chalet rooms
We were hosted with a simple breakfast by the owner at the rest house. I must add simply but yummy. Love the ayam masak merah and the bubur kacang the most. One can opt to sit indoors which is air conditioned or sit outdoor in the shade to enjoy the fresh crisp air.
a little of everything...then you have round 2 and then round 3...
soft yummy bubur kacang merah
air conditioned comforts
And if you want a more traditional touch, opt for these little pondok:D

So hop over for tea or a meal on your way up to Cameron Highlands or perhaps stay the night and explore the settlement and Lata Kijang.
