Pantai Seafood @ Kayu Ara

Pantai Seafood is part of the Unique Seafood chain of restaurants and this means that the seafood will be good and definitely fresh. Walking in, you'll be greeted with tanks and aquariums of life seafood. I wouldn't say it is merely a good gimmick but I think its good distraction when you have restless kids:P Restless kids wasn't a problem for us as we were all hungry foodies...

Steamed Salty Soaked Chicken proved to a brilliant start. The chicken was steamed just right. It was not over steamed so it remained tender. Not overly salty, it was good enough to be eaten on its own without a need to dip into the sauces on the side.
I always love beancurds and the Traditional Hand-made Hakka Beancurd is a good dish that I would order the next time I  return to Pantai Seafood. Loved the beany goodness of the choice of beancurd. The sauce is appetising enough for us to carbo load as well.
Plain Steam Prawn only works if the prawns are fresh. Each prawn is sweet and succulent. Dip it into the magical chilly sauce for an extra kick.
Fresh fishes are best eaten steamed. No need for any elaborate sauces or deep frying. And living up to Unique Seafood's reputation for fresh seafood, the Steamed in Hong Kong Style fish was good. A test of freshness? I ate the eyes:P The choice of good soya sauce obviously enhanced the whole steam fish.
Since the group couldn't exactly decide which crab preparation we all wanted, we ended up with 2 preparations. Frankly I didn't like the Milky Cream Style crab. There was nothing special to it.
The Baked Meat Crab with Salted Egg Yolk was a better choice. Every crab was coated with a generous coating of salted egg. Generous but not overpowering making it a finger licking good dish.
And finally, what is a meal with the foodies without the Crispy Pork Trotters that Pantai Seafood is famous for. Crispy skin and tender flesh. Marinated well...it was also absolutely finger licking good as SW demonstrated.
