A Malaysian Gastronomic Journey at Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur

This is my second year checking out Serena Brasserie, Intercontinental Hotel KL And its amazing that this hotel whips out a huge feast. Choose from hot to cold, Asian to Western, sweet, spicy, sour and most impressively, the action stations and its all a food tour around Malaysia.

Let's break fast with something warm for the tummy. Soup selections vary daily and I was in luck that night because it was my all time fave hearty and rich soup tulang. Hot and spicy as a sup tulang should be.
Equally easy on the tummy is the bubur lambuk which I never fail to dig in anywhere when I see it. Serena Brasserie serves a wickedly good bubur lambuk that demands a second bowl. I kid you not!
Going traditional, pick your choice of kerabu and salads. Its healthy to have sone fibre in your digestion:P Take your pick of Kerabu Kerang (Cockles), Kerabu Soo Hoon (Glass Noodle),  Kerabu Daging (Beef), Kerabu Anika Laut (Seafood), Kerabu Mangga (Mango), Kerabu Telur (Egg) and more. Of course there's always the good old fashion salad for you to pick and add on your fave dressing both Western and Malay. I have to admit I loved the fact Serena Brasserie serves Sambal Tempoyak!
choose your choice of Kerabu
Sambal galore! Spot my fave sambal tempoyak and sambal mangga?
Ulams are great and I went gaga over the selection of ulams including Kacang Panjang (Long Beans),  Jantung Pisang (Banana flower), Nangka Muda (Young Jackfruit) and Pucuk Ubi (Tapioca Leaf)
I am not sure if you call sotong kangkung a salad but I sure call it salad. Mix your own or have a friendly waiting staff do it for you.
Our local delicacies from all over Malaysia are served in claypots to keep them nice and warm.  Take your pick of Briyani rice, Deep Fried Fish in XO Sauce, Chicken Kurma, Stir Fried Vegetables, Lamb Rendang, Braised baby Brassica with Crabmeat Sauce, Beef Curry, Wok Fried Green Mussels in Kam Heong Sauce, Sweet Sour Prawn and lots more.
A Western take includes Ratatouille, Pan fried Sea Bass with Tomatoes and Herb Salsa, Roast Lamb Shoulder with Rosemary Sauce, Chicken Picata, with Roast Herbed Potato. My fave of the lot is the Medallions of Beef with Cracked Peppercorn Sauce.
I mentioned the live stations and all you need to do is to walk out a little and be mesmerized by the selection. On a high probability be trying to figure out which end do you start with. Choose from rojak, murtabak, fried noodles, satay, fritters such as banana, cempedak, yam and potato, grilled fish, Lamb Shawarma and even teppanyaki. Amazing yumminess...
Grilled galore
Mee goreng

A must have satay!
I love the lil Japanese section. Take your pick of sashimi and sushi. And if you love shell fish, dive in to crabs, oysters, prawns, mussels and lobster.
Sushi and sashimi

Shells and lots of shells!
Desserts don't come any less. Choose from cakes, cookies, local kuihs and sweet soups. The bubur pulut hitam (black glutinous rice) is especially good. Not overly soft, you still get some lil firm bites of the rice with very fragrant brown sugar. And if you're diligent enough to walk around, you can even have your banana fritters with ice cream.
Traditional local cookies
Local kuihs and look on the top left. Tapai pulut!
Bubur pulut hitam
Banana split with fried fritters!
For all that, its only RM99+ until 20th August 2012. Hurry over and feast!

Saya paling suka Medallions of Beef with Cracked Peppercorn Sauce sebab dagingnya masih lembut dan enak dengan rasa lada hitam.
