Gemersik Selera at The Mill Café

Gemersik Selera at The Mill Café, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur was a homely feel. Featuring a selection of authentic and delectable Malay yummies, I was glad I braved my way back to KL from Klang for this makan session.

I love roast lamb and would most times check out this dish before anything else. The roast lamb at The Mill Café is the Chef Markhan Singh's signature dish and its certainly good stuff. I enjoyed it without the need for any of the Rosemary Hollandaise and Mint Sauce. Simply flavourful and tender minus the gamey taste.
Right after the lamb, I went on to peep at the Kerabus. Impressive! They had a good selection of seriously traditional kerabus including my fave Kerabu Perut and Kerabu Jantung. If you love sour stuff, then the Kerabu Manga Muda is a must and will prove to be extremely appetizing. And to add to the complete feel, the nasi ulam that was served was absolutely brilliant.
I try to avoid carbo loading for dinner as a general rule. This general rule was broken on that faithful night. I saw my all time fave Sayur Lodeh. The ketupat wasn't beside it. So I walked off to the grilled meat station and grabbed my ketupat, returned to the sayur lodeh bowl and scooped heaps of it into my bow. Returned to the grill meat station for some peanut sauce. Yeah...having my bowl of lontong like a typical Johorean girl:D

And carbo loading didn't end there. Not when the claypots before us was holding all the yummy traditional Malay gravy dishes. How can you say no to Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak and Rendang Udang Berkerisik? And if that wasn't awesome enough, I had to contend myself that there was the Ayam Percik and Lamb Kofta that went brilliantly well with the Naan Bread.
Carbo loading to the max is quite inevitable with such appetizing gravies!
Not to be missed is their local kuihs such as fried cempedak and banana. Worth mentioning is also the pengat nangka which a delightful sweet soup of coconut milk, palm sugar, sago and jackfruit. Yes, this is one of the few exceptions that I actually like coconut milk in my food:P
Also served daily are Indian, Japanese and Italian offerings of pasta and pizza. A wide selections of desserts from their regular dinner buffet line too. To sum it up, the Ramadhan offering is not too much of a variety...its just perfect.

Saya memang suka kambing panggang.
