Visits to Villa Danieli @ Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur is always good. There is the rustic and warm feel of the restaurant that is very welcoming and warm. And needless to say the scent that greets you at Villa Danieli is akin to someone's home when the chef is cooking. Relax and savour the scent of freshly baked breads and pizzas in the air. Yummy!
To commemorate Sheraton's 75th birthday, Chef Alessandro Graziosi and Villa Danieli have whipped out a celebratory menu of delectable dishes at only RM75++ per person (dinner only). Its a 3 course meal and includes a glass of wine or soft drink but mind you, its capable of leaving you in a food coma.
While waiting for our orders to arrive, we nibbled on the freshly baked breads. Mind you its addictively good so perhaps the word nibble is quite wrong since
we I pretty much ate up the breads. Good on its on and even better when eaten with the savoury tomato dip on the side.

Choose one of the two available entrees:
Option 1: Burratina alla mediterranea. A huge piece of buffalo Burratina cheese hides beneath the rocket leaves. Slightly chewy and it certainly goes well with the juicy ripe cherry tomatoes, generous dashes of herbs and peppers and of course quality olive oil makes this a beautifully healthy entree.
Option 2: Il Manzo tonnati e tarfufato con patate e fagiloini. I reckon most carnivores will opt for this pretty in pink roast beef salad with truffle tuna sauce. Accompanied by some potatoes and french beans to make this a balanced dish.
Choose from one of the four mains. It was a good thing that was the 4 of use for dinner and as such we could sample all 4 mains!
Option 1: Tagliata di Manzo al Rosmarino con Patate al Limone is my obvious choice and I am told that this is also Chef Alessandro's favourite. Slices of Australian rump steak cooked to perfection. Each bite is juicy with its own juice and made juicier and better with Rosemary beef jus. Plain old potatoes are given the a lovely lift with lemons.
Option 2: Tagliatelle al ragout d`Agnello. I love pastas and when its whipped out by an Italian..it will always be the perfect choice. A comforting dish of ragout of fresh golden tagliatelle and tender lamb with herbs.
Option 3: Scottata di Branzino al Timo con Asparagi e Polvere di Olive Kalamata was perhaps the most unique dish for me. I wasn't expecting to see fish on the menu...and certainly least expected to see the fish minus bones in such a flat presentation. Sea bass pummelled till its flat. Flavoured only with Kalamata olive dust, olive oil, fresh thyme, pepper and sea salt. My obvious fave for the night even though I love my meat dishes. This was a simple dish bursting in flavours and textures!
Option 4: Risotto ai Cinque Funghi. A perfect vegetarian dish that seriously didn't feel vegetarian at all. This is one of the best risottos that I have had this year. Creamy, earthy and bursting with the flavours of 5 different mushrooms. I must admit that this was quite a huge portion that technically seems to be able to feed more than one person. Its addictively good that we actually ate it all up even though we were quite filled.
Option 1: Crema catalana al rosmarino is not your regular creme brule. Creamy brule made interesting and in fact extremely memorable with a dash of rosemary. Our obvious fave dessert for the night...
Option 2: Tiramisu being an obvious dessert to be expected on the menu. I must say it looked pretty and inviting. But perhaps we were spoilt by the Crema catalana al rosmarino, the Tiramisu kinda paled in comparison though the hubster thought otherwise and ate his Tiramisu all up leaving me just a spoonful for tasting!
