Sugar and Spice @ Sheraton Imperial

That's the amount of food in one evening:D And that's only some of the items that is in store for you this Christmas and New Year Countdown at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur. Burp? Yeah...a big major burp but you'll need it to party and celebrate these 2 merry and happy celebrations.

I'll break the post into 3: Christmas Eve, Christmas Brunch and New Year's Eve. 

Aptly themes sugar and spice, you'll be seeing lots of of interesting place of spice and all things sweet (sugar) in the menu offerings including a fine selection of cocktails and mocktails.
Cocktails are priced at RM28++ per glass.

Christmas Eve:
(1) Essence
Expect a culinary adventure in line with the theme Sugar and Spice. Its a whole long list of items including Caesar Salad, Chicken Liver Parfait with Spiced Omegranate, Cinnamon Spice Baked Salmon Fillet with Creamy Spinach Mayo, Roasted Canadian Black Cod on Ratatouille and Basil Pesto, Braised Beef Cheek with Sweet Blueberry BBQ Glaze, Tempura Prawn with Dipping Sauce and condiments, Brussels Sprouts with Sugar Glazed Carrots and more.

Christmas Eve (Dec 24) buffet dinner is served from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. Priced at RM128++ per person (food only) and at RM188++ per person (inclusive of free flow of house wines and draught beer).
I absolutely love risotto and getting a good one isn't the easiest task to do in Kuala Lumpur. This Butternut squash risotto with chili flake is perfectly colourful and creamy. Love the perfect texture and flavours.
Oyster shooter with spice of tabasco is simple but really freshness matters and I am smitten. Lost count of the shooters had that night during the review.

(2) Villa Danieli
For a more intimate and romantic getaway to celebrate Christmas eve...or perhaps having an Italian meal for a change for Christmas, then Tuscany styled Italian restaurant Villa Danieli can be a recommendation. Let Chef Alessandro Graziosi tantalise you with his 4 course Christmas Eve menu including a glass of Prosecco sparkling wine.

Savour Italy’s best with dishes like Foie Gras, Ox Tongue and Cinnamon Apple Compote Terrine, Red Currant Puree with Honey and Cubeba Pepper Glazed Figs, Alaskan King Crab Marinate with Acacia Honey and Fresh Jalapeno, Cannellini Bean and Clam Chowder, anis oil; Australian Grain Fed Beef Tenderloin Black Pepper Crusted with Sweet Pumpkin Mash and Cinnamon Butter Pan Fried Wild Mushroom and Glazed Foie Gras and Honey Black Raisin Beef Jus or Dill and Szechuan pepper marinated then steamed Cod Medallion with white asparagus and sauteed baby spinach, roasted pine nuts and saffron vanilla hollandaise sauce. And lastly seal your evening with a sinfulicious dessert - Pistachio and White Chocolate Parfait with Caramelized Rhubarb.

Chef’s Alessandro’s exclusive 4 course dinner is only available on 24 December 2012 and is priced at RM220++ per person.
Dill and Szechuan pepper marinated then steamed Cod Medallion with white asparagus and sauteed baby spinach, roasted pine nuts and saffron vanilla hollandaise sauce. May seem like a play of many flavours but they all compliment each other exceptionally well. I never knew that pine nuts would go so well with cod fish!

(3) Celestial Court
Even Chinese restaurant Celestial Court has something in stored to celebrate Christmas. Celebrate the yuletide season with Master Chef Ho Boon’s innovative dishes and Chef Ken’s flavourful Dim Sum specials, all featured in a not-to-be missed live buffet station! 

From refreshing appetizers, delectable main courses and sweet desserts, diners will be spoilt for choice with dishes such as “Beijing” Lamb and Leek Dumplings served with Hot Bean Sauce; “Korean Beef”, Kimchi and Tofu Dumplings served with Vinegar Soy Sauce; Assorted Luk-Luk Skewer Selection; Fresh Oyster with Garlic Lemon Sauce; Marinated Abalone Top Shell Meat; Deep Fried Cheese Ball with Prawn, bean Curd and Spinach; Chinese Banana Fritters with Red Bean Paste and much, more – all set to leave you wanting for more.

In addition to the live buffet station, diners can also choose their dishes from a special festive a la carte menu – some of the delicious options offered are Roasted Crispy Chicken served with Hong Kong Spicy Dried Scallop Flavor; Pan Seared Beef Tenderloin Cubes and Shimeiji Mushroom; Crispy Prawns with Minced Nutmeg, Sesame and Mayonnaise Dressing; “Siew Mai” topped with Mini Braised Abalone, Scallop Yam Puff Rings with Seafood Filling in White Cream Sauce and more! This promotion is priced at RM168++ per person (minimum of 2 persons) and at RM208++ with free flow draught beer of house wine. 
Steamed Fish Maw with Shrimp Mousse in Egg White Sauce was amazing. A very distinct taste that will have you wanting more. 
Perfect nibbles in any Chinese meal is the Peking Duck.

Christmas Brunch:
(1) Essence
One hardly wakes up fro breakfast on Christmas day after the eve's worth of partying and celebrations. One wakes up in time for brnch and Essence will be serving up a delightful brunch buffet on Christmas Day (Dec 25). Savour unique dishes like Rack of Lamb with Five spiced Puy Lentils, Black Pepper Glaze; Cabonara Style Fettuccini with Chicken and Mushroom; Oven Roasted Duck Breast with Caramelized Orange Sauce and Pear Chutney, and more.

Christmas Day brunch is served from 12pm to 4pm and is priced at RM118++ per person (food only) and at RM178++ per person (inclusive of free flow of house wines and draught beer).
Peppered crusted duck with blackberry sauce is a wonderful and refreshing take to the usual duck preparations that we see around town. The berries give this dish an additional zing to this savoury meat.

(2) Villa Danieli
Villa Danieli will be serving BBQ brunch at the poolside on Christmas Day from 12 noon to 3pm, priced at RM118++ per person (food only) and at RM178++ per person (inclusive of free flow of house wines and draught beer).
Vibrant Norwegian salmon tartare with orange and chives is not your usual BBQ food but it is a must have if you want something fresh from the usual grills in a BBQ.

New Year Eve
Welcome the new year with a bash and do it with your loved ones and best pals for a more meaningful time. Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur lines up a delicious welcome as you march into 2013.
(1) Essence
Savour a delectable International spread. Opt from Braised cola BBQ beef rib with mango, Pan fried prawn with olive mayo, Tandoori chicken with condiments, Air dried beef with melon, Lamb shank kuzi, must have Sheraton Cheese Cake, Berries Fruit Tartlet and Catalana Mousse Cake and more. The appetizing New Year’s Eve dinner buffet is priced at RM148++ per person (food only) from 6.30pm onwards. 
Memorable and distinctively different dish is this air dried beef with melon. Savour the juicy sweetness of ripe watermelon sandwich of air dried beef. A lovely burst of flavours!

(2) Villa Danieli
Villa Danieli Italian Restaurant offres a mouth-watering 5-course set menu featuring Chef’s Alessandro’s specially-crafted Italian cuisine which includes Cured Beef Ham with Fresh Robiola Cheese, Dill Mousse and Chili Honey; Spicy Fennel and Star Anis Cream Served with Caramelized Lobster, Citrus and Purple Potato Terrine; Meat Pate and Cinnamon Onion Jam Terrine in Piedmont Style with Red Currant and White Pepper Coulisse and end with a sinful dessert, Cheese Mousse with White Pepper Honey and Sweet Mango.

Priced at RM260++ person including a glass of Prosecco Wine, the set menu will be served from 6.30pm onwards.
A 2012 fave of mine has to be risotto. This Chlorophyll chervil and almonds risotto, seared Japanese scallop and deglazed brandy is highly recommended. Of course some may say the scallop seals the deal for me since I love scallops as a general rule but I must say the risotto on its own is perfect even on its own.
Left wordless by this pretty and very delectable Peach Tarte tatin with Greek Yogurt and goat cheese mousse with white pepper honey and sweet mango puree. A perfect end to dinner!

(3) Celestial Court
if you want something Chinese then Celestial Court rises to the occasion with a  New Year’s Eve 6 course seafood set menu. Welcome the 2013 like an emperor and feast on Celestial Court’s finest selection with dishes including Deep fried prawn with mango, onion and capsicum served with wasabi –mayo; Baked marinated sea perch fillet with Assam curry sauce, Braised hot and sour broth with minced fish asparagus and mushroom, plus lots more. 

This irresistible seafood set menu will be priced at RM128++ per person (minimum of 2 persons) and will be available for dinner only. 
If the long festive week has left you in a food coma, then the Braised hot and sour broth with ined fish asparagus and mushroom is the perfect dish to help you recover your appetite. A brilliantly appetising tangy and slightly spicy seafood goodness in a bowl!
