CEDAR on 15

Dining on the roof top seems to be a trend now. No harm too since the KL skyline is quite a pretty sight. CEDAR on 15 @ Impiana KLCC now has a new addition and indeed has elevated this hotel to a new level. Never much of a hotel that is mentioned for its restaurants, I think with CEDAR on 15, Impiana has certainly joined the ranks of the many Malaysian hotels with good food.

Granted that the view of KLCC Twin Towers are a lil blocked, it is nevertheless still pretty enough. What I loved about this place is you stay in and have your good dinner, then you move on and chill at the chill out bar. There is a resident DJ who spins the latest mixes and sounds after 10pm. And while you dine, there will be the live band to serenade you.

CEDAR on 15 is helmed by Executive Chef Helmut Lamberger from Rosegg, Austria. The dishes are eclectic and with a modern European touch to it.
A good start to dinner is always a glass of wine and some good bread. Some freshly baked bread is always a welcome.

Housemade butter to go with the bread.

Amuse Bouche of fried mushroom and a tangy base of salad. This varies daily depending on the fresh ingredients that Chef can lay his hands on.

Cream of Topin Ambour @ RM25. Topinambour is also known as Earth Apple or Jerusalem Artichoke. This naturally creamy vegetarian soup is creamy and comforting. Naturally sweet and certainly goes well with the the earthiness of the grilled portobello mushroom and crispy
topinambour chip.

Pumpkin Seed Crusted Black Cod @ RM72. This signature dish is a must for fish lovers. A lovely thin crust of of pumpkin seed gives this dish a nutty and crisp crust while the flesh remains all nice and tender. Served with a mushroom tomato chutney and fennel mousse for a creamy and refreshing touch.

Australian Greg Norman Wagyu Rib Eye (MB 6) @  RM 220/200 grams. Perfectly the way I like my meats to be without fancy marinades or sauces! Served with your choice of sauces (if you so desire...) and side dishes.

Chocolate Seduction @ RM38. A chocolate lover's dream come true. A piece of beautiful art from edible flowers to the Sarcher Torte, chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache. Surprisingly, it wasn't a sugar overload. I loved them all but its the Viennese chocolate cake that mesmerized me. Certainly a dessert that you take your own sweet time to savour with glass of wine or even your cup of tea or coffee. I had mine with tea and certainly wouldn't mind sitting down with a good book while doing so.

One thing for sure is that when one dines at CEDAR on 15, be prepared to be smitten by the artistic plating and flavours of the dishes.
Tartar of Scallops  @ RM48 - Served on shaved parsnips and basil jelly.

Beef Carpaccio @ RM48  - with Burrata cheese, pan fried mushrooms, parmesan and rocket lettuce.

Malt Glazed Venison Leg @ RM65 - With braised garlic and celeriac mashed.

Pavlova  RM30 - Fluffy light meringue sponge filled with fresh strawberries and pistachio
