If you have not registered for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013, then hurry and get it done as it closes on 30th May 2013 or upon reaching the target of 30,000 participants. And if you have registered, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
To help us train for our run better, the organisers of SCKLM will be organising a total of 14 ‘Zero to Hero’ training circuits from March to June. This will be conducted by Mark Williams, the official running coach of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013.
‘Zero to Hero’ training circuits aim to help runners prepare themsleves for the Full Marathon, Honda Half Marathon, and the 10km categories. The first training circuit will take place on this Sunday 10th March and the final training circuit will be on 9th June 2013. Each session includes a short briefing on a selected topic followed by supervised runs for a pre-determined length of time. Participants will gain useful information such as weekly training management, nutrition and hydration, stretching techniques, and injury prevention. Having attended one of the clinics last 2 years, I will say that these sessions are valuable to both new and regular runners.
In addition to the 10 regular training circuit sessions, there will be four (4) specialised training sessions, which are ‘Hill Repetitions’, ‘Acceleration Run’, ‘Fartlek Run’ and ‘Interval Runs’ held on selected Wednesday evenings.
Admission for the running circuit is free but places are limited. Runners who are interested to participate may register online. Registration will be open in stages.

And if you are thinking of going one extra step this year when you run in SCKLM, why not run for a cause? Join the thousands of runners who will run in return of pledges in aid of the charity partners under the umbrella of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon.
The Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013’s “Run for a Cause” charity programme provides a platform for you to help others who aren't as fortunate. Over the past four years, more than RM2.4 million charity funds have been raised and distributed to help areas of cancer and children with special needs.
The Standard Chartered Foundation (SCF) acts as the charitable arm of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad. SCF identifies and channel financial supports and aid to deserving community programmes in Malaysia through long term, sustainable and visible programmes for the community. This year the partners include:
• The National Autism Society Malaysia’s mission is to advocate for the rights of people with autism and in doing so, provides opportunities for children to learn and lead a productive and fulfilling life.
• EcoKnights is an organisation that deserves your helping hand. The association advocates national and international environmental programmes that promote sustainable development amongst industry players and communities.
• Hospis Malaysia who's mission is to provide possible services in psychological, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients who are suffering from life-limiting illness. Hospis helps to instil awareness on the value of life and promote a better quality of life for all patients regardless of illness or stage through advocacy, education, and research.
It starts with you. Turn your running journey more meaningful and fulfilling. Pick a charity that you believe in or support “Run for a Cause” runners who have pledged because your participation will be nothing short of a positive contribution to the people in need!
