Iron Man 3

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

So... Iron Man 3. Is it any good? We give it a 9. It's all action, all fun, lots of humour, fantastic trip, much like having an exhilarating ride in a super car and in approval tone that you expect of Downey Jr,  "HooYah". A brilliant play of everything and perhaps for me the humour itself was memorable. And this movie makes Iron Man real. We see Iron Man being a human after all.

When we stepped out from the cinema, we were greeted with a sea of contented faces except maybe for one or two. There was this girl who absolutely hated it. Maybe she found the technological awesomeness portrayed in the movie was far fetched, maybe her concept of villain should be a villain with a mask or maybe marvel superhero movie has gone beyond the realm of reality. No we didn't make this up, as the hubster passed her and eavesdropped on her gripes. Her 3 girlfriends seemed to shake their heads "what"? Why?

Yup, you can't please everyone. You can't fault the performance of Downey. Jr, To me, he gets better every time he plays the genius billionaire, playboy, philanthropist Tony Stark. I like to have a boss like Mr Stark. He emits so much good energy to those around him. His character doesn't broad, sulk, loves and lives life. So much so the supporting casts, Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Don Cheadle (Colonel James Rhodes) weren't relegated to mere trophies or lamp props as typically in other superhero movies. Both Stark's closest friends have meaty actions scenes and did save Tony's behind in quite a few situations.

Sometimes we learn that we should not disappoint or let down the people who look up to us as we will never know it could come back to haunt us some years int the future. That's about the underlying premise that this movie is of.

Much had been hyped about the character "Mandarin". Without not giving too much away. Awesome acting by Ben Kingsley.

A welcome twist that did surprise some of us after catching the earlier trailers. As of what is then the nature of Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce). Surely a tasty role is in stored for this accomplished actor. Well, apart for the surprise ahead, his role as Killian may not be his finest to stretch his acting ability but I'm not complaining. His too good looks do steal away what he offers onscreen.

What's Iron Man movie without many IRON MEN armours? We have War Machine, Iron Patriot, Iron Igor, Iron Heartbreaker, Iron Hyper Velocity amongst the many marks that will grace this Iron Man 3. Fans of the series will drool of the many mark versions. There were a few parts in the movie that poke itself, and true fans will understand.

Do look out for the performance of Ty Simpkins as (young Harley). Delightful little chap.

And in case you're wondering, Jon Favreau (Happy Hogan) the trusted bodyguard and chauffeur in charge of protecting Pepper Potts is actually the director of the first two iron Man movies.

So really how good is Iron Man 3. Looking for adventure, a trilling experience, a memorable and tasty Robert Downey Jr. we give it a 9. As much as Hugh Jackman is Wolverine or  Christain Bale is Bruce Wayne / Batman. Robert Downey Jr is Iron Man - you will have to give it to him that way! It inspiring to know after all that, there are lessons to be learned on oneself.

It's not the suit that maketh a man but it's the Man that makes the suit.

We caught the preview this morning in IMAX 3D. Darn good experience and now we're off to catch our second screening in 2D:D

Updates @ 1:05a.m. ! Caught the 2D version too and my thoughts:
• If budget permits then Iron Man 3D is best viewed in 3D. The movie's fast paced effects are best seen and experienced only in 3D. You kinda miss the best of it when viewing in 2D.
• IMAX is of course a bonus and certainly worth it for Iron Man fans.
• I am not sure if any of you danced and sang to Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee) once upon a time, but I caught myself moving to this irritatingly catchy tune on both screenings. LOL
