Lunch @ Cedar on 15

Having dined quite a few times at Cedar 0n 15, it hit me that I have not visited the place during lunch. THANX to Sarah who suggested that I join her and Monica for lunch a Cedar on 15, I discover that this cozy restaurant is just as delightful during lunch as far as the food and ambience is concerned. Making life easy for the folks, set lunches are available at RM55++ (2 course) or RM58++ (3 course) per pax.

The menu changes every 2 weeks. This is not a surprise when Austrian Chef Helmut Lamberger  is one of the most creative chefs in town. Our visit yesterday offers the following:
• First course:
Fresh Cameron Garden Greens with Italian Beef Bresaola and Aged Balsamic Dressing
OR
Creamy Mushroom Soup Infused with Truffle Oil
• Second course:
Sliced Turkey Breast Zurich Style served in Creamy Champignon Mushroom Sauce, Buttered Fettuccine and Brocolli Floret
OR
Pan Seared Fillet of Seabass with Sea Salt Foam on stewed Lentils and Caramelised Beetroot
OR
Grilled Vegetable and Cheese Terrine with Basil Pesto and Semi Sundried Tomatoes
• Third course served with your choice of coffee or tea:
Sweet Watermelon Gazpacho with Calamansi Sherbet
OR
New York Cheese Cake with Raspberry Coulis and White Chocolate Ganache

Our visit on a Monday proved to be a good idea. I was after all nursing Monday blues because it was Monday and also because I am still trying to get back into a work mode after resting almost the whole month of June. The place is bright, airy yet cool. The natural light and warm furnishing work wonders to cheer the spirits up .

While we run through the menu (not easy because everything seems very tempting), we are served with a refreshing mocktail of soda, Red Bull and mint leaves.
Its a mocktail but its good enough that I forgive the fact that it is a mocktail and not a cocktail:P

Our orders are taken and quite promptly our basket of breads arrive. Breads are baked daily at cedar on 15. Be careful not to over eat these delightful breads or else you may not have space for your actual lunch.
Warm breads - don't over eat!
2 slabs of butter - unsalted and sundried tomato. The sundried tomato is totally appetizing and its hard to not eat too much bread when the butter is so creamy, comforting and delightful.

I wished I could have both the soup and garden salad. But I had nothing to fret. They say sharing si caring and Sarah and I shared our first course:D
Monday Blues calls for some comfort food. My choice of Creamy Mushroom Soup Infused with Truffle Oil. Its a creamy and hearty soup with lil mushroom bites enhanced with the earthy goodness of truffle oil. Bliss!

Fresh Cameron Garden Greens with Italian Beef Bresaola and Aged Balsamic Dressing proves to be a refreshing choice. Thinly sliced beef complimented the crisp greens while the balsamic added a lovely zing.

The mains are well thought with something for everyone. I would have loved to pasta and the grilled vegetables but fish won the battle of choice.
The Pan Seared Fillet of Seabass with Sea Salt Foam on stewed Lentils and Caramelised Beetroot is an amazingly pretty dish with a perfect balance of flavours. The fish is light, flaky and was paired perfectly with the slightly buttery lentils.
Beetroot gives the savoury main a nice light touch of sweetness and twist.
I can't resist sharing another picture of this gorgeous seabass!

Did not taste the other 2 mains but they certainly looked just as delightful as my choice. Reckon that I will be there soon for lunch (if I am not fasting on that said day...) and checking out the following 2 mains.
Grilled Vegetable and Cheese Terrine with Basil Pesto and Semi Sundried Tomatoes
Sliced Turkey Breast Zurich Style served in Creamy Champignon Mushroom Sauce, Buttered Fettuccine and Brocolli Floret.

Both choice of desserts are clearly different in terms of taste, colour and looks. One thing I could conclude was they both were satisfying!
Sweet Watermelon Gazpacho with Calamansi Sherbet is served nicely chilled and perfect to cool one down before we step out into the smouldering KL heat.
New York Cheese Cake with Raspberry Coulis and White Chocolate Ganache is a perfect creamy end to my meal.

Chef Helmut sprung a surprise for us with additional 3 dishes. As usual I am smitten with his dishes. Having enjoyed his Pumpkin Seed Crusted Black Cod RM72 and Chocolate Seduction RM38 on a  few occassions, I will never tire of them. And something new for me would be the Venison with sour cream dough.
This Venison is wrapped with Chef Helmut's signature sour cream dough. Meat is tender and goes well with the rich crust. Good to be eaten on its own and when eaten with the demiglazed juniper infused brown sauce, its a whole new world and depth. A rich dish but its given a green touch with the brussels sprouts and caramelized beetroot.
This signature Pumpkin Seed Crusted Black Cod will make its way to the lunch set menu very soon. If you love cod or even fish, then this juicy flaky cod fish is a must. dish is a must for fish lovers. A lovely thin crust of of pumpkin seed gives this dish a nutty and crisp touch.

Here's another pic of my much loved Pumpkin Seed Crusted Black Cod:D
Chocolate Seduction very much lives up to its name and has Sarah, Monica and I totally smitten. A very memorable dessert that stays on top of my must have list for chocolate desserts in Kuala Lumpur! This platter of Sarcher Torte, chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache is not overly sweet and perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Set lunch is available from Monday to Friday from 12pm to 2:30pm.
