MIVVA August

When my MIVVA August edition sat on my work desk in the courier packing, I noted one thing...it smelt! It smelt good. There was a nice rose scent coming out of it! Nice...and then it hit me! Dang! Did something break or leak in the box? Hurriedly, I tore the plastic wrap aside and unveiled the MIVVA Box nice and intact. *phew* It say FLOWER POWER when I unboxed it.
FLOWER POWER...no wonder it smells gorgeous!

Now let's see the goodies inside...its always nice to unwrap a pressie or a box and not knowing what lies inside.
The goodies in MIVVA August edition!!!
Culprit of the beautiful gorgeous scent was a Rose Perfumed Drawer Sachet by Taste. Seriously the smell is strong...so I opted not to use it in a drawer or the cupboard. Decided that I will hang it in the living room for a sweet scented touch. Two weeks down the lane and the scent is still visible even from my bedroom. Good stuff!
The Worthy Book ladies edition coupon gives you a discount of RM10 when you purchase the discount book.
I-Gel Aire Refreshing Drops 10ml - Full size: RM18.80 (WM) for 10ml | RM19.80 (EM) for 10ml
Awesome! This comes in handy since I do have very dry eyes in general causing me to constantly rub my eyes. A very bad habit and I have been resorting to eye drops to moisten my eyes these few months.  Tried this and yes, my eyes are smiling because they are now comfortable and soothed. Perfect for contact lense wearers too!
Dermedex Refining Cream 2 Challenge Pack - RM30
Full size: Dermetex Refining Cream RM165 for 30ml | Bio'Tox Cleanser RM120 for 50ml
Read about this product some months back. Achieve clearer and acne skin within 3 days of using the Refining Clearance Challenge Pack. The Challenge pack contains a Bio'tox Cleanser 10g and a Refining Cream 2 5g.
Bio'tox Cleanser helps to deep cleanse while moisturizing the skin leaving the skin supple, healthy and glowing. One can use it like a regular cleanser or if you have time, leave it on the face for 15-30 minutes before rinsing. Interestingly, the Bio'tox Cleanser can also be used as an over night mask - something that I am looking to test after my first full marathon on 1st September.
The Refining Cream 2 encourages the skin's natural defences to resist blackheads and reduce irritation and redness often the common bane of acne or pimply skin. Tried it on my nose that does have a blackhead attack from time to time...hey! 3 days of using and it did keep the nose relatively blackhead free!
The MIVVA August edition also comes with a Dermedex Coupon and a special code for us to enjoy extra benefits and perks from www.dermedex.com too. Will certainly be checking it out when I finish using the Dermedex Bio'tox Cleanser.
Di Palomo Orange Blossom with Wild Honey and Olive Enriching Hand and Nail Cream 25ml
- full size RM69.00 for 75ml
No complains for more hand cream especially I run through them rather too quickly )I have a quirky habit of applying hand creams each time I wash my hand:P).
A lovely rich texture but absorbs very quickly with no oily after feel. Hands feels pampered thanx to the rich ingredients of olive oil, honey, grapeseed oil and orange blossom extract. The scent is a little light but nevertheless comforting:D
Tsubaki Damage Care Shampoo and Conditioner 40ml each - Full size: RM16.90 for 220ml and RM33.90 for 550ml
One of the regular brands in my toiletries collection for the last couple of years. Tsubaki Damage Care is enriched with Tsubaki Amino to intensively nourish and repair damaged hair.
Shills Rose Essential Hydrating Skin Care Set @ 3ml each -
Full size: Cleansing gel RM79 for 100ml,  Toner RM59 for 250ml and Essence RM99 for 30ml
(RM237)
This travel packaging comes in handy for overnight trips. This Damascus Rose Essential Hydrating range is rather mild in general and has a light rose scent. Rather pleasant and my fave would be the Dual Action Cleansing Gel that did a good job to remove my BB cream and loose powder.
F Cup Cookies - Full size: RM78.90 for 14 sticks
I was surprised. Truly surprised that there was food in the beauty box:D
F Cup Cookies is an innovative Japanese product that serves to fill your tummy and also offers natural breast enhancement solutions with essential amino acids. I must say it makes a yummy snack and with its breast enhancement solution, I am not surprised that this is one of Japan's hottest selling item with over 4.5 million boxes being sold in the domestic market.
Obviously eating 2 of the cookies will not give me F Cup boobies! It is recommended that one consumes 2 pieces of F Cup cookies daily and then technically you will be able to see results in a month.

The MIVVA August box is another winner box as far as I am concerned. My faves being the Tsubaki, Dermedex, I-Gel and Di Palomo items. For RM38, the goodies that I love is definitely a good deal. Awesome to be able to have access to miniature sizes instead of buying a full size and only to discover that I don't like the product or it does not work with my skin.

To grab your own Mivva box, hop on to www.mivva.com. Alternatively check out what other happy Mivva users have to say to at https://www.facebook.com/MIVVAcom BTW, when you review the products on MIVVA's site, you will earn points that can be converted to a FREE MIVVA box!

Is Liposonix for Me?

Did quite a bit of reading on that muffin top, that dang inch of fat and of course Liposonix these 2 days. Don't you roll your eyes at me. Like I said before, skinny girls too have our own problems! What I learnt about Liposonix!
ONE: Liposonix is a non invasive procedure.
The Liposonix procedure takes approximately an hour. This treatment uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to non-invasively get rid of targeted fat around the waistline minus going under the knife.

TWO: Liposonix does not give immediate results.
Why not instantaneous like how beauty salons often promise? Its not water that we lose from Liposonix. Its fat, that stubborn oily stuff. And because its not water loss, the inch (and weight) loss is technically permanent unless you stop being sensible and start indulging yourself in everything sweet, oily, fried, starchy,  no exercise etc.

The going a way of the fats or inch is between 8 to 12 weeks because it relies on the body's natural process to rid the fats.

THREE: Liposonix is not for overweight people.
I don't think Liposonix is aimed at overweight people. Its a solution for those who have exercised and watched their food diet yet find the last stubborn nagging inch still there. So if one is overweight, the solution is to start exercising, watch the diet and then when closer to the healthy and desired size, that's where Liposonix comes in.
PS: Before you start on an exercise or diet plan, please do consult your doctor rather than jump into one strange diet plan that people are busy talking about etc. Its just being plain sensible after all, there are more Doctor Quacks out there than sensible Doctors.

FOUR: Liposonix targets the stubborn fats under the skin layers.
Non invasive fat reduction procedures uses radio frequency and energy to target the problem areas which often is just on the surface. Liposonix on the other hand uses high intensity focused ultrasound energy (HIFU) that can be specifically targeted at the problem ares and goes all the way through our skin layers to attack the fat packets or fat tissue.

FIVE: Liposonix is NOT liposuction!
Liposonix does not 'suck' out the fat. Its non invasive so you do not have scars on you.

SIX: Pass the Pinch test.
One needs to pas the pinch test i.e. have at least the one inch of fat at the abdomens and a BMI of under 30 to be a suitable candidate for Liposonix.
SEVEN: Liposonix is only for the abdomen
Currently, Liposonix only treats the abdominal fat and love handles.

EIGHT: Side effects of Liposonix treatment
So far I read of positive effects i.e. a lost of that stubborn 1 inch. Some patients shared they felt it was painless. Some others said its a mild tingling, prickling or discomfort. Because we each have different skin sensitivity, some left the procedure like nothing happened while some had some mild redness, bruise or swelling. As such  each patient were given the necessary post treatment care and advise by the healthcare Professional that attended to them.

NINE: Liposonix is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle and exercise.
The best way to lose weight is through a sensible diet and exercise. Liposonix steps in to aid in the removal of that one last stubborn inch for us to hit our perfect size and shape.

TEN: Liposonix procedure
• The treatment head of the Liposonix system is placed on the targeted area.
• High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy focuses on the targeted fat and destroys the fat cells under the layers of the skin.
• A continuous lesion is created on the targeted fat and no harm is done to the skin layers.
• The fat tissues will be removed through the body’s natural healing and elimination process.

So will I head in for Liposonix? Sounds tempting! But the only way for me to find out in terms of whether I am a suitable candidate and the cost etc is to walk into one of the following outlets! You can also do the same by checking out the following outlets and reading up www.solta.com or www.liposonix.com!

I am Playing the Engine Rodeo Battle!

Confession! After the troopers outing some weeks back, this Aunty (and the Uncle) are now hooked on a  new game on our gadgets:D Both are having a gala time with the Castrol Magnatec Intelligent Molecules Experience’s Virtual ‘Engine Rodeo’ Battle - the very same rodeo engine game that the nephews and nieces were playing during the roadshow.
No harm playing too since it’s a nice breather from Candy Crush and Real Racing 3 that has us both glued for quite some time. But the best thing about us playing the Castrol Magnatec Intelligent Molecules Experience mobile app is that we stand a chance to win some great prizes!
Stay on the engine rodeo...
Keep your balance...

And the great prizes are great. Castrol is offering weekly prizes and also the 4 top prizes for the longest cumulative time at the end of the contest period (dang...why didn't I start playing earlier?)
• First Prize (1st longest cling time in a single game)
One [1] x 3D/2N Trip to Disneyland Hong Kong for family of Four [4]
• Second Prize (2nd longest cling time in a single game)
One [1] x 3D/2N Trip to Universal Studios Singapore for family of Four [4]
• Third Prize (3rd longest cling time in a single game)
One [1] x Samsung Galaxy S4 16GB
• Fourth Prize (4th longest cling time in a single game)
One [1] x 2D/1N Trip to Legoland Malaysia for family of Four [4]
• Bonus Prize (longest cumulative cling time over contest duration)
One [1] x carton of Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 (6 x 4L Bottles)

Now since I am sharing my confession, I might as well tell you how to get started in this game. Perhaps you might well be the winner for the awesome prizes...

• STEP 1
Download the Castrol Magnatec Intelligent Molecules Experience mobile app. Head on to https://www.facebook.com/castrolmalaysia to download the app.

• STEP 2
Scan the QR Code and you will be directed to the correct download store based on your Gadget.

• STEP 3
Click 'See, Hear & Feel the Difference' to experience the AR engine.  Point your device to the Castrol Magnatec marker and you can learn the components of a car engine and car engine protection via AR engine.
OR
• STEP 4
Click 'Engine Rodeo Battle' to start clinging on the virtual ‘Engine Rodeo’

• STEP 5
Register to submit score
Super simple game...all you basically need to do is to cling on to the engine rodeo for as long as you can by shaking and tilting your device!
And if you are wondering (as my friends often say 'think too much'), the game is inspired by how Castrol Magnatec’s Intelligent Molecules clings on to our car engine to provide instant protection from the moment it starts. Did you know that up to 75% of engine wear happens during warm-up? And if you do not have a good engine oil, the engine wear during drives will also reduce the lifespan of your engine. So join me in this fun game and good luck with winning!

PS: I am currently testing a pack of Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 (4L) engine oil on our trustee paktology car (the small little Kancil) thanx to the folks at Castrol. Stay tuned as I reveal how our 16 year old ride is doing with some TLC from Castrol Magnatex 10W-40. In case you are wondering...paktology is a term I coined from the Cantonese word 'paktor' which means to date. This 16 year old kancil was the very first car that the hubster and I used when we first dated:P

One Dress Size. One Stubborn Inch.

Skinny girls have skinny girls problems. And if you hear a skinny girl complain she has some surplus fat then...its often quite true. For me, the regular complain is the still visible cellulite and perhaps most often that ever lingering muffin top. And in case you're wondering, muffin top isn't a tasty muffin for you to eat! Its an irritating piece of flab / fat that sits above the waistline of your pants. Not sexy! So yeah...I do get my moments that I talk about it or even go online looking for a solution for it. And interestingly, I came across something called Liposonix.

Liposonix seems to be a popular procedure since its a mere one hour procedure and promises to take an inch off the waistline (generally we are talking about one dress size smaller) with one treatment. Its also a none invasive procedure - in other words no need to go under the knife. In fact, Liposonix was awarded the Best NonInvasive Slimming Treatment by Harper’s BAZAAR Spa Awards 2013.

The results is not instantaneous! Instead one can see the change in 8 to 12 weeks which is an indication of fat been processed. Often the 1-2 inches off per treatment is very much water loss rather than fat.

Like all procedures, Liposonix is certainly not  procedure for everyone. Its for those who worked exercised hard, eat right and yet they still have the one inch or so of stubborn lingering fat. Hmmmm...that dang 2.5" of fat hanging around...the irritating pinch test that even I fail miserably:(

Sounds promising. So I reckon I will be reading up a little more before I share my findings. Beauty sites, beauty blogs, health sites...here I come! Meanwhile, some videos on Liposonix that are floating around the Internet.
The Launch in Singapore. I see skinny and slim people...so it seems like I am not the only one with a lingering piece of fat hanging on to me.
A little snippit on Liposonix.

This And That 26 August 2013

Life is still running at full throttle. A little crazy and somedays I am left breathless. However that's how life should be. We seize it and live it to the max! A recap of somethings that I have been doing but did share out via the blog or Instagram.

Had some fun and not so fun moments with our ride Reckless. I supposed that's the whole works of owning a car?
Pimp our ride. Blinked her like she was in Tron for an event.
Selfie taken during one of our weekend touge trips. 320km worth of trunk road drive. Uber fun...and I was obviously quite well BBQed at the end of the drive:P
Busted the clutch on a recent drive down to Malacca...so Reckless had to visit the doctor:(
We could have sat and be miserable by the highway but we chose to chill under a tree while we waited for the ambulance tow truck to arrive.
Saw this Hyundai Veloster during our drive home. I kinda like it though many friends think otherwise. What's your thoughts?

Met up with my bunch of pals whom I travelled to Chiang Mai. Had our coffee and what nots in Coffea Coffee in Bangsar. Lots of good laughter and of course playing around with our food and phone cameras. Hehehe.
Allow me to introduce and pimp their blogs! Jason and Yoga were missing in action - Yoga's based in Australia now...and Jason abandoned us!
Nanny (still waiting for her to start her blog)
A not too memorable cake but we had fun using Anna's stadium lights to light it up for a photo:P

We welcomed baby Lucas into our family of Tamchiaks. A cutie pie that is certainly keeping his parents Jo and Oliver very busy with feeding and diapers. And I reckon when he starts crawling...there will be more fun:D

Found a new vending machine in some malls selling both hot and cold drinks. Lots of popular Japanese drinks too!

Had a reunion of sorts with my Borneo Jazz Festival pals. Epic fun with lots of bubblies. Responsible driving of course...
Cheers!
Evangeline was missing so we had her on the tablet and some of us tried to mimic her trademark look:P

Had my usual cravings to a large extent. And the last few months saw a frequent hunt for scones, char kueh teow and wantan mee. Drop me a line if you have a fave stall, cafe or recipe to recommend me for the 3 mentioned cravings! A bit of foodie trails too and a very fun one took me to Sandakan recently. Bear with me as I run through the photos. Posts should be up this weekend or next.

Very fattening but I still love them and crave them a wee to often according the hubster.
Bak Kut Teh with fish and prawns! Yummy...and only in Sandakan!
Saw a puffer fish at the market but didn't know who could prepare this fish for me to eat. LOL.
Not sure what happened but I was having McDonald's Bubur Ayam for 1 whole week for my supper. The strange must have started after a trip back to my hometown Kluang for a work assignment (btw...click to read where the best coffee and toast in Malaysia comes from!).
Into my 13th consecutive week of having a fried egg with kembung fish for my lunch at least once a week from Central Steak House in my office building. Simple and tasty!

Marmite lovers...this is my precious haul duringa  random walk around in Bangsar. Tasted this Marmite Extra Old some time back. Was surprised to see this one very last bottle. Obviously had to buy it and am not slowly savouring it! Am hoping to find it soon as I am left with just a few more meals of it.

Watched the Barcelona FC vs Malaysia friendly match in Shah Alam Stadium. Some last minute arrangements and the match was moved from Bukit Jalil to Shah Alam. Not sure why but I have zero complains except for the traffic jam heading into Shah Alam. Bukit Jalil was the perfect spot as it has buses and the LRT servicing the area.
Anyhow, thanx Head & Shoulders for the pair of tickets! *Muaks*

Kiwi moments!!! No escape! It was 14 days of amazing goodness and fun with Zespri® kiwifruits. I came out with some of my Mad Scientist recipes and all but also picked up quite a bit of new recipes from fellow bloggers that I am checking out too.
Kiwifruits are yummy and goes a long way beyond eating them on its own. My recipes as follows:
Check out too fellow foodie bloggers who whipped out some pretty fancy recipes of their own:
Meena

Been running a lot more than I have previously been doing. Clocking averagely 40km a week with the major works being done on Saturday 11km and Sunday 24km. Why run? Its fun. Its liberating to finish a race. And when in good company...no harm running more!
I don't just run and not admire my surroundings. A simple but pretty pink and white flowers by Mother Nature!
Ran my personal best for a half marathon 21km @ 2:14 during the recent New Balance Half Marathon on 18th August 2013. Think we all ran our best times with the super flat route.
Another medal to add into the display shelf.
Explored trail running too over the weekend and I am loving it! More challenging and lots more to see, hear and smell. Can't wait to head on for more trail runs to add some varying training to my usual tarmac runs.
Explored acupuncture recently to treat an old injury that resurfaced recently. Injury was a left over from my ATV crash some years back. Its extremely fun to be pricked and wired. Soothing when the current flows that I ended up sleeping through a few sessions. In fact the acupuncture treatments has assisted me to sleep better at night too.

Am having so much fun running that I am off to my next official run on 1st September 2013. Moving on to my full marathon in a week's time instead of December 2013 after clearance from my Sifus. Its the River Jungle Marathon...42.195 of good running. Am not targetting my personal best since its my very first full marathon. Its a challenge to myself to complete my run...and thankfully there is no cut off time in this particular run!
Yes...I will be a Full Marathon Virgin on 1st September 2013. Wish me luck!
The 42km route that starts from Ulu Langat.
Elevation of our route. Yes its lots of slopes and twisties. Certainly different from my usual experience of driving through this route. Now I will be going through them on my 2 legs.

And as much as I enjoy running, there is 2 things that I don't like and/or worry. Firstly, the weight loss - I am now a walking 42kg on good days. And if I don't watch my food intake, sadly I am capable of hitting 40kg. Secondly, I couldn't help but note that many runners are looking way beyond their age. Naturally I will be a vain pot to an extend because I am a girl!
Started taking some supplements for the skin. Yes yes yes...unless I start taking care then I may just look way beyond my age of 40! Having heard from a few fellow runners who look way younger than their actual age, I am checking out Imedeen Classic. 2 tablets a day to supply me the necessary nutrition to combat the free radicals and all that my skin is exposed too. Will certainly review the efficacy in a couple of months time:D
Weight loss meant that i lost quite a bit in front and behind. Yes..less boobs and less ass too! The hubster is not complaining but I hate the way clothes are hanging off my body! When I collected some products that I won from Talika recently, they approached me for the Talika Body Shaping Challenge. Think they must have seen that this skinny girl is losing whatever curves she has. And in my mind, since its not plastic surgery and merely topical application of products based on Ayurvedic formula there is  certainly so no harm taking up the offer for the #TalikaBodyShapingChallenge.

While eating, running and travelling has been fun, reality is I need to work too. And many times, have to put in extra hours and late nights to compensate for my 'fun' part of life. It gets crazy some days with datelines for material submission and production. And it seriously doe snot help that clients love making last minute decision - I am ranting but I have also come to accept that this is part and parcel of being in the Creative Industry. So to stay sane...
A soak in the bath tub! Love it with Epsom Salts or even a visit to the spa.
Take some time off and savour my cup of green tea packed with anti oxidants.
Indulge in being a child again. Bought this Hello Kitty ol skool paper lantern for the coming mooncake festival:D
Be my own goofy self jumping in the middle of nowhere
And spending some time with the loved ones doing something healthy. The hubster isn't keen to run, so its a walk for him and with him. Taking a weekend off from running and I will be joining the Kordel Charity Walk 2013 with the hubster. Its all about getting him to walk for healthier joints and of course for a healthier weight too! Come join us if you are free on Sunday 8th September 2013 at Padang Merbuk!

More pics in the album This And That 26 August 2013.  Do show some love too at my FB page Missyblurkit! Thanx folks!!!
