Staycation: Hilton Petaling Jaya

My weekend favourites are to run, head in for a drive or a mini getaway. Even within town, it suffice to have a getaway from home to a hotel. Of course if schedule permits, a getaway to another nearby city will always be fun:D On a random weekend, its a getaway from our home in Kuala Lumpur to Petaling Jaya. Approximately 8km away from home and we were nestled in Hilton Petaling Jaya or as I have fondly known it as Hilton PJ since my very first stay in 1991 .

Smack beside Federal Highway and almost in the middle of Petaling Jaya, Hilton PJ's location is brilliant for business travellers. And for families or even leisure folks like me, there's plenty of malls just a short drive away. Rather near to the LRT stations, one can even grab a train down to KLCC! But in our case, we were contended to just be holed up in the hotel. There's plenty to keep me entertained and occupied including a 24 hour fitness centre, 5 restaurants and a bar!

Registration and checking in was a breeze at the Executive Lounge on the21st floor. A nice cold towel and a drink to help prep me for the chillax weekend. The lounge is divided into a few  section. There is the private rooms if one needs to have discussion space with a bigger group of people, or opt to lounge around at the comfortable couches, some work stations for those who need to check on their emails and a lovely view of PJ for your meals.

The executive lounge is a brilliant place for breakfast. Lots of healthy choices and of course a selection of local and Western choices. Come 3pm, there are delightful afternoon snack favourites being served. And to unwind before dinner, there is complimentary cocktails to go with some light bites from 6pm to 8pm.
Cozy space!

Coffee or tea?
Have a cup of coffee or tea with the lovely rich cookies over a book like I did or even serve the Net. The wifi speed here is good!
Glass of wine before dinner.

We had a corner room which meant I had a good view of PJ and part of KL! Anice spacious room with a big king sized bed. One can pretty much just chill in the room most of the time to watch TV, a work station for some work done and an easy chair to just grab a good read by the window. My fave thing about staying with Hilton will be their Peter Thomas Roth products. Basically I don't even bother with my shampoo, conditioner and body lotions when staying at Hilton. Its luxe and works darn well!

Hello there! I can peep if you're in the bathtub:P

My fave Peter Thomas Roth products!!!
Pretty and healthy treats for my nibble pleasure. Spoilt for choice with macarons, fresh fruits, nuts, chocolate ganache and fruit tarts!

Its quite a bit of eating even before I check out the restaurants and bar in Hilton PJ. Staying fit or burning off the calories is not a problem. I can always run at the nearby parks or even opt to stay within Hilton. A nice pool to catch up with some sun as well or head into the 24 hour fitness centre on the ground floor! A pampering session

Genji Japanese Restaurant is a must visit in Hilton PJ. Opt for ala carte dishes, experience Kaiseki sets or enjoy the sumptuous buffet dinner on Saturdays @RM109++ per adult and RM56++ per child (5-11 years old) and buffet lunch RM99++ per adult and RM49++ per child on Sundays.

Paya Serai Restaurant offers a delicious buffet breakfast in the morning. Local and international cuisine are available for lunch and dinner buffet. The buffet is kept fresh and interesting with many live stations. And if buffet isn't your cup of tea, the ala carte menu is just as impressive.

The soup ekor or oxtail soup is a must when dining in Paya Serai!

Swing by to Caffe Cino if you fancy a good cup of coffee. And if you are visiting at the right time, one of Malaysia's top barista may well be the one making you your cup of coffee too to go with your choice of cake or sandwiches. If you fancy juices, then Caffe Cino also has an interesting selection of fusion juices:D

Pork free Toh Yuen Restaurant features an amazing menu of authentic Chinese cuisine. My all time favourites are Peking Duck and dim sum. The Dim Sum Brunch on Sundays from 11am until 3pm, with over 40 types of dim sum is highly recommended. Priced at RM68++ for adult and RM40++ for child below 12 years.
Not a fan of fried dim sum but the Deep Fried Prawn Roll with Mango and Cheese will have you asking for more!
Steamed “Siew Mai” Dumpling with Abalone

And if all the dining adventures within Hilton PJ makes you feel a tad fat, then party away at Uncle Chilis! Enjoy the lively band performances and on some nights, join in the fun with their themed nights. The cocktails here are also highly recommended!

Uniform night and the partner in crime and I turned up in our chef uniforms:D

A getaway within my own city to ensure that I stay sane and for some quiet time with the hubster away from the crowd and kids. Have you had your sanity getaway? No worries, it can also be a short one with your BFFs!
