Ramadhan2014: Latest Recipe @ Le Meridien

If you watched Masterchef Malaysia, then you would certainly remember celebrity Chef Zubir. He is once again back with Le Meridien's Latest Recipe with to thrill diners with his repertoire of kampung style dishes. The dishes that diners can expect include Kedah, Kelantan, Perak, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Johor. 

I had missed this review as I was down with dengue then but the hubster cheekily told me that they were definitely my faves and I would be smitten because they were close to the kampung experience that I often seek during my road trips. The list was pretty extensive and one starts from the salads, hot dishes to dessert, And honestly, no visit to the Latest Recipe in Le Meridien is ever complete unless you check out the Indian and Japanese section.

The salad section would definitely be where I would typically start off. And knowing my love for kerabu, someone had to remind me that I missed out on the very appetizing kerabu daging bakar (roasted beef) and kerabu mangga (young mango). Of course no kampung meal begins without some ulam!

The savoury is what many will love after a long day fasting. Kampung favourites on the menu include Rendang Pulau Jawa daun salam, udang goreng pedas lada hitam cili kering (black pepper prawns), ikan keli masak tempoyak cili burung (cat fish cooked with fermented durian), butter crab, fish head curry and more. The menu rotates daily so there is definitely quite a bit to explore on every visit.

I honestly miss the Indian section and when I saw the pics that the hubster took, I was seriously not too pleased that he had a good time exploring the Latest recipe without me. Hahaha though thankfully, we did manage a return a couple of days back when we broke fast with our clients. Curries, briyani and of course my all time love for the delicious tandoori!

The Japanese section is a must for its sashimi and teppanyaki. Be prepared to wait a little for your teppanyaki as its really popular. On each visit, its quite a few servings of the beef teppanyaki for me!

Its a buffet, so go for a few rounds of all your favourites but do leave space for desserts. Lots of fruits, local delights and cakes for you to feast on! The chocolate fountain is an all time popular spot at the Latest Recipe with both old and young. Be adventurous and I will tell you, our local fruits actually go really well with chocolate with my favourite pairing being guava and jambu air!

The delicious Ramadhan spread at the Latest Recipe is available until 27 July 2014. The buffet spread includes a free flow date juice, sirap bandung, sugar cane juice and soya bean milk:
• RM138++ per person (from Monday to Friday)
• RM128++ per person (on Saturday and Sunday)
• Children between 4 and 12 years old are entitled to 50% discount. 
• Senior citizens are entitled to 50% discount on Saturday and Sunday only.
SPG members will receive a 20% off total food bill.
