Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur whips out an impressive selection of 10 festive menus to usher in the year of the Goat. There is something for everyone's needs. There's set menu for 2, vegetarian and various options with the most luxurious set Prosperous Blessing priced at RM2,188.
All menus are available for both lunch and dinner.

As usual Si Chuan Dou Hua stands out from many restaurants with their unique offerings including their flower and fruit tea accompanied by some crafty tea pouring acts by their tea master. Love watching how he skillfully pours tea into every cup with minimal spillage. Then its the joy of watching how the dried fruits and flower unfolds into a delicious cup of tea.

I must admit that it was my first time having the Barbecue Lamb Yee Sang. Its an interesting rendition of yee sang and surprisingly the lamb was a nice addition to the yee sang. Rest assured that its not gamey tasting neither is it spicy. Its a delicate taste of its own and it lingers a little in the mouth.

The Braised Seasonal Vegetables, Bean Curd and Dried Oyster with Pumpkin is not the suual braised vegetabes that one would expect for a reunion meal. Thinly sliced ripe pumpkin and tofu plate the braised seasonal vegetables of mushrooms, peas, beancurd sheet, gingko nut, black moss and carrot.

Lettuce and prawns hold much significance in CNY meals. Combining the best of both, we are served Stir Fried Large Prawns with Egg White. Fluffy egg white stir fried with prawns and tobiko can be eaten on its own or eaten with lettuce as a wrap. The latter being my preferred choice for more bite and flavour.

The Steamed Village Chicken with Dried Seafood and Chinese Herbs seemed a tad salty for some of my dining mates but I absolutely loved it. Love the goodness of the sauce that bore the sweeteness of the chicken and seafood including pacific clams, fish maw, carrots and mushroom. Needless to say, I did a mini carbo load here by requesting for a bowl of white rice despite knowing that the next dish would be Fried Rice with Smoked Duck. It would have been such a waste to ignore the delicious gravy!

The Fried Rice with Black Mushroom, Lotus Seed and Smoked Duck was an obvious crowd favourite for both old and young. Its interesting how the light crunch of the lotus seed and its creamy flavour enhanced and complimented the smoked duck and flavoured rice.

Dessert was Chilled Grapefruit Sago. It was tasty and unique but I was hoping for a more distinctive grapefruit taste. Nevertheless it delicious with refreshing bites and flavours of pomelo, mango and strawberry.

The Steamed Nian Gao with Crispy Oat is by far one of the tastiest nian gao I have had. Its light in colour due to the type of sugar used. Given an additional crunch from the crispy oat (Nestum), its definitely memorable and I will not be surprised that this might just be copied by others next year.
