Ramen Kanbe @ Empire Damansara

Ramen Kanbe, Empire Damansara, ramen, Kobe, japanese, foodie trail,
Ramen cravings takes us to another part of town that we seldom explore - Empire Damansara. But I am glad that I actually took a trip to that part of the world recently with to check out Ramen Kanbe. The simplicity of ramen and rice dishes at this no frills but very customer friendly restaurant pretty much shows why we were in the company of some Japanese folks and working adults on a weekday night.

The menu here is quite straight forward and easy to manouver especially for those who are not familiar with Japanese food. There's pictures and clear description too.

Ramen Kanbe stands out from many other ramen eateries because their broth is shoyu and chicken based. This Kobe style has a lighter broth which I personally feel is more suited for our hot climate. while the broth maybe lighter but its not lacking in flavours or satisfaction.

Charsiu Ramen RM21
A hearty bowl of clear broth with generous pieces of charsiu to compliment the firm noodles. I personally love the generous serving of spring onions and black fungus - and in my personally opinion, Ramen Kanbe is very generous with the condiments compared to other ramen restaurants that we have visited.

Wantan Ramen RM21
This is a good option for those who want both wantan and charsiu.

If plain shoyu and chicken broth is not exciting enough for you, then there's always the Spicy Ramen RM21. This is a lovely option for those who prefer something more potent. Spicy and slightly sour with a mix minced chicken and pork for a lovely texture that compliments the noodles. *Slurp*

If I have any complaints about Ramen Kanbe, it was probably the overcooked Boiled Eggs RM3. However, eggs being one of my fave food, I could live with it even if its not runny so let's not fret on the eggs because the other items at Ramen Kanbe are good including the Gyoza RM10 filled with a generous portion mince and spring onions.

Torisoboro-Rice RM 10
Comforting and simple. A bowl of fluffy rice topped with yummy spiced mince chicken and pork. Good on its own or even with an egg to go with it.

Pork Rice RM17
Rice served with a stir fry of pork belly, spring onions and garlic in Ramen Kanbe's unique soy sauce. Lots of gravy to make it the perfect one dish meal very similar to the Cantonese braise rice dish.

For those who have ramen urges in Damansara Perdana or Kota Damansara area, Ramen Kanbe is a good place to head in. Its also highly recommended if you prefer something lighter over the usual tonkatsu broths elsewhere.
