Dorsett Shepherds Bush

While Dorsett Shepherds Bush is a relatively new hotel in London, the hotel is quaint in its own way. A mix of heritage, style and contemporary elegance. The building's historic facade is retained while the interiors are given a new life.

Dorsett Shepherds Bush has 317 rooms. Each room is grand and comfortable. A marriage of British style and Chinese elegance. Rooms are equipped with modern amenities including FOC high speed wireless internet, luxury bathroom amenities with practical features including a electric clothes drying rack, 37" LCD TV, docking station and more. Perfect for business and leisure travellers. While the hotel is on the main road, I am impressed with the sound insulation for the rooms.

I stayed in the Executive Room. A spacious room with a separate room for me to work in and sofa bed there. The bathroom had both a shower and bath tub separately. Perfect for me to have my morning quick shower and a nice ice bath after my long morning runs. of course it was equally good to have a bath tub for me to soak in at the end of each day after running and walking all over London. I will story you on running through the London Marathon route in the next post.
A comfy but firm King sized bed. I had a docking station beside my bed for me to charge the devices. Aternatively there is also ample charging docks on the work table in the other room.
A single seater and a TV in the room together with an equally large wardrobe (not shown in picture). Since I travel light and in clothes that do not require any ironing, I normally just leave my luggage bag as it is and grabbing my clothes from it as and when I need them.
A very comfortable sofa bed with the TV right in front. 2 TVs in the room so basically if you travel with a partner, there is no need to fight for the TV.
Work desk with an ergometric chair. Note the many charge points on the desk itself.
A good offering of beverages in the room. I personally appreciated the hot chocolate and butter shortbread cookies that came in handy as a light brekkie before I ran every morning at 6am.

The 8-storey hotel boasts of 2 restaurants, a spa and a 24 hours gym. If you stay in the Executive rooms and Suites, you will have access to the Dorsett Lounge which offers drinks and canapés served in the early evening. One can also hop over to Jin the Atrium bar for more drinks and light bites. Jin is especially famous for The Celebration Afternoon Tea, which includes a glass of Jacquart champagne.
A spa on the top floor at Dorsett Shepherds Bush offers 4 treatment rooms, sauna & steam room and relaxation lounge.

If you love Chinese food, then check out Shikumen. I overheard some aunties sitting beside me praising the restaurant for their Beijing Peking Duck and Xiao Long Bao dumplings. A must try when I return to Dorsett Shepherds Bush next time.

Pictures is opened 24 hours. Head in for breakfast or for a complete meal. I love how the restaurant makes the most of natural lighting with its classy glass roof. I had one dinner there and it was lovely beginning my dinner with a bright summer sun to a lovely sunset orange glow. When dessert came, it was dark skies with warm lights from the restaurant itself. Brilliant!

Before I flew over to London, someone told me that Dorsett Shepherds Bush serves one of the better congee in London. I was hmmmm "this person has to be kidding me". Turns out that the congee is indeed one of the best I have had in a hotel or even restaurant. It is smooth and fragrant. Rich and thick and went perfectly well with their condiments of preserved mustards and vegetables. Had 2 servings of the porridge every morning!
Crayfish Cocktail £8.50 - fresh water crayfish with avocado and brandy marie rose sauce.
A substantial serving size and a must order if you love the fresh and sweet goodness of crayfish.
21 Day Aged Scotch Fillet £22.50 - Its aged meat do best to stick to medium rare as duly advised. Juicy goodness served with portobello mushroom, skinny fries and cherry vine tomatoes.
Pork ribs £11.50 - Slow cooked pork ribs with a delicious smoked barbeque paprika sauce. Served with a generous side of salad and American coleslaw. The serving is huge so this is best for sharing with your pals while you order another main.
The drinks menu here is simple and delicious. Take your pick of juices, wine or even hot ones and if you want more drinks after your meal, head over to Jin the Atrium bar!
