Kuala Lumpur Orchid and Bonsai 2015

Perdana Botanical Garden is tops on my list for Malaysian parks. After all it is one of my training grounds every weekend. Making it even better now is the recent renovations and new landscapes with more plants and interesting running paths. And if you have not visited Perdana Botanical Garden for a long time, then make sure you pen it into your must do list especially this week. Of course if you love orchirds and bonsais, a visit this week is a MUST because the Kuala Lumpur Orchid and Bonsai Show (KLOB2015) 2015 is happening until Sunday 16 August 2015.

KLOB2015 has plenty in stored for everyone. Themed Flora, Festival and Food, both old and young will have something to keep everyone occupied. Of course the orchids on display will certainly keep everyone busy with their ooohs and aaaahs. Even if you are not a photobug, you might just find yourself snapping away because the orchids on display are just so mesmerizing.

This show features a spectacular collection of orchids and bonsai from around the world. With over 400 orchid species and 19 bonsai species from over 20 countries including Singapore, Denmark, South Africa, Thailand, Japan and Switzerland. Now let the pictures speak! Of course if you want to see the full works, make sure you make your way to KLOB2015 before 16 August 2015.

And if you think orchids are merely just displayed in their pots or in a floral arrangement in a basket or vase, then you are in for a surprise. We saw this very pretty dress with orchids. Love the idea and since orchids are tough flowers, I reckon this is a brilliant idea for an evening gown or even wedding dress. Darn, if only I had the foresight then my wedding dress 14 years ago could have been decorated with orchids rather just holding my bouquet of orchids.

No one goes hungry during KLOB2015. There’s the usual eateries at Perdana Botanical Garden and also food trucks that serve up an assortment of drinks and food. Its important to be properly hydrated and fuelled so that you can explore KLOB2015 and the park itself to the maximum.

I mentioned that there is something for everyone. Grab a pony ride. Experience the life of a king and queen by taking a ride in a carriage drawn by horses. Some of the activities lined up for the week include:
• Flower arrangement competition on 10th August. Opened to professionals and amateurs with attractive prize money.
• Colouring contest for children.
• Garden hunt - a treasure hunt for students on 13 and 15th August. Participants will take part through their schools. You may email to sign up before 13th August 2015.
