Zoolander 2

How many recall Zoolander in 2001? Well if you like that for all the laughs, then Zoolander 2 might just offer you more laughs. Nothing brainy to it. Just 100 minutes of laughter over loony, charming, almost idiotic scripts which were good laugh after a long day at work.

A flashback reveals that the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good collapsed, killing Matilda Jeffries and injuring Hansel McDonald. Derek later lost custody of his son, Derek Zoolander Jr., and announced his retirement from modelling and subsequent reclusion.

Derek and Hansel are then lured out from their recluse into modelling again. They arrive at Rome to make a come back into modelling only to be caught in a sinister conspiracy with a string of assassinated pop singers whose last images was thought to match Derek Zoolander's trademark look, "Blue Steel". Lots of looks from Blue Steel to Magnum...

A plot is unveiled in a church by Sting who tells them the tale of Adam and Eve and the little-known Steve, who many rockstars have died to protect. Steve is is the common ancestor of all models Derek Jr. is apparently Steve and holds the bloodline of the Fountain of Youth. A little spoiler but Derek who is the Chosen One is a plus size kid and later a plus size model. Yay to some positive note about being plus sized!

Zoolander 2 is a darn star and celebrity studded movie. Kicking off with Justin Bieber on a chase and being shot repeatedly for too long. So long that I was wondering "isn't this bugger ever going to die and stop that look?". Other famous faces that you can spot include Will Ferrell, Jerry Stiller, Matt Lauer, Billy Zane, Kiefer Sutherland, Susan Boyle, Justin Bieber, Lewis Hamilton, John Malkovich, Naomi Campbell, Sting, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, M.C. Hammer, Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss,Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Valentino Garavani and moreeeeeeeeee. They barely spoke. They were celebrity cameos though some characters spoke a couple of sentences.

The plot is nothing to shout about. But yes I will still watch this if I catch it on TV or on my inflight entertainment channel. No harm laughing myself silly over some idiotic banter debate between Derek and Hansel or the many celebrity cameo appearance who appear a little lunatic. And of course, anything that stars Owen Wilson is always worth a watch as far as I am concerned!
