Zespri SunGold KiwiFest 2016

Sundays are my favourite run days. Last Sunday was a tad different because I ran and ended my run at Zespri SunGold KiwiFest in Desa Park City. Bright and early at 830am, the park was filled with bright, chirpy and sunny people. All gathered for a glorious Sunday morning spent outdoors with fresh air and loads of fun for both old and young.

While the event was scheduled to start at 830am, most participants came even before 8am. I reckon everyone was excited. Of course many came early to book their spot in the park so that they could enjoy the workouts comfortably.

The morning kick starts with DJ Irama spinning to get everyone on their feet. A good warm up indeed. GTXperiment came on stage too to keep the momentum going. If I must say, it was a such an energetic and fun morning that many were reluctant to go home.

2 workouts were lined up for the morning. Jojo Struys lead participants through yoga. I was in queue to cycle to make my own smoothie but that did not stop me from following some of movements from where I was standing. 
Obviously no one minded the sun and totally enjoyed a relaxing and rejuvenating session led by Jojo.

For many, the highlight of the event was perhaps Cassey Ho of Blogilates who flew in from the US to conduct popilates. A fun upbeat, dance Pilates session...Popilates as she calls it. No wonder she has over 3 million subscribers on YouTube. 

The young ones had their share of fun too. Loads of activities included colouring, Leelapass, Giant Twister, Zorb Ball and Kiwi Dart Board.

And since it was a Zespri SunGold event, of course there was loads of yummy Zespri. From spinning to make our own smoothie to a delicious kiwifruit inspired breakfast. My favourite was of course Lifejuice's cold pressed juice that came in really handy after my 29km run earlier on. Another of my fave was obviously spinning to make our own smoothies. I wished that people were lazier to spin so that I could spin longer but guess everyone was eager to workout to make their own noms...a good thing in a way.
It is easy to include Zespri kiwifruits into your daily diet. They can be eaten on its own or added to your meal as a salad, salsa for meats or even as a key ingredient for dessert.
