Paul Jaboulet Aîné Wine Dinner @ Hilton Kuala Lumpur

A recent visit to Graze in Hilton Kuala Lumpur brought about a perfect dinner of fine Paul Jaboulet Aîné wines, good company and beautiful food. While some arrived late thanx to the traffic, everyone's mood was fine and dandy with lots of chatter and laughter in between sips of wine and Graze's addictive breads.

5 wines and 5 courses to go. Carefully curated menu that was gorgeous from beginning to end.
A lovely welcome sight of Paul Jaboulet Aîné that we would be going through for the evening.
2013 Côtes du Rhône Blanc Parallele 45 to kick start the evening on a light note. Fresh, crisp with my favourite peach and citrus aromas to keep the mood light and easy as we watch the skies change from gold to dark. While Paul Jaboulet Aîné is more famed for its red, this proves that the winery has much to offer to for its whites.
First dish of citrus cured Scottish Loch Fyne salmon, mesclun leaves, cherry tomatoes, green peas and yuzu caviar. Pairing continues 2013 Côtes du Rhône Blanc Parallele 45 earlier on. A thick cut for a lovely firm bite with flavours of regular smoked salmon but with the added zing of the citrus and delicate yuzu.
Spanish style roast chicken, smoked paprika and Côtes du Rhône pot-aux-feu with herbal aioli crostini. A comforting stew like meal that I couldn't resist asking for extra bread to dip into the rich and comforting gravy.
2013 Côtes du Rhône Rouge Parallele 45
Fine tannins and rich ripe berries with hints of spices. A lovely accompaniment to the flavours of pot-aux-feu and roast chicken.
Seared French quail, baby spinach salad, truffled celeriac puree, red wine reduction.
Simple in looks but absolutely delightful accompaniment to the quail.
Another humble looking but absolutely delightful roulette. It is amazing that Graze always whips out the best roulettes!
2013 Crozes Hermitage "Les-Jalets" RougeA long fruity finish with aromatic notes of plum. A good red that I don't mind having it throughout the night but we have a gem awaiting us.
Braised Australian Wagyu beef cheeks, Le Puy lentils, tomatoes, spring onions and crispy potatoes.
Can't go wrong with tender braised Wagyu cheeks that saw my dining companions smiling from ear to ear. Yours truly totally enjoyed the lentils for protein!
2010 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Cèdres
A perfect accompaniment with red meats. Complex, intense and spicy with sweet berries.
2007 Hermitage La Chapelle
The gem of the night with a price tag of RM2,820! Smooth long finish with juicy ripe berries, spice and vanilla. One to savour with good company or even a good read.
My love for wine corks...they make awesome decors and handicrafts!
Black olive and chocolate tart with homemade vanilla ice cream
Utterly decadent and so pretty that one will be wondering where do we begin eating from. Rich and dense and perfect company with my second glass of 2007 Hermitage La Chapelle

Thank you Magnum Wines and Hilton Kuala Lumpur for this very delightful invite!
